Welcome to The Ascension Knitting Group
Oldfield Park Community Knitting Group has decided they’d like to come under the umbrella of Ascension – welcome to you! The current leaders are Pat Spreadbury and Jen Lillington, and they usually meet on 1st Wednesdays and 3rd Mondays each month. The group knit for charity, and perhaps of particular note is their link with a community in Mountain Ash in the South Wales Valleys, some of whom visited us in January (as reported in the Feb-Mar edition). We still hope to organize a return visit. The group have a Bring & Buy Coffee morning in our hall Sat 14th April 10 am – 12 noon to which all are welcome

I work with the Fashion Museum and we are trying to contact local knitters to ask them to get involved in a project for the Assembly Rooms and Fashion Museum for the Olympic Torch Relay day and the Jubilee Weekend. The aim is to decorate the outside of the Assembly Rooms and Fashion Museum with knitted bunting. This is where the knitters come in. I’ve already contacted several groups and a community learning group on Wednesday suggested I contact your group. I have a pattern which uses double knit and size 8 needles. Please let me know if you would like to help out and knit some bunting pennants. We aim to have the pennants knitted by 15 May so that we can sew them onto tape ready to decorate at the weekend before the Torch Relay on 22 May. I hope that your group can be involved. We are also hosting some knitting sessions at the Fashion Museum from 6 to 7pm on Tuesdays 1, 8, and 15 May and all are welcome to come.
Looking forward to hearing from you – Lindsey (01225 477757)
