Regular events for February & March
NEW – Tea & Chat. 12th Feb & 12th March 2-4pm. A new monthly group meeting on 2nd Tuesdays which started in January – for tea and chat in Ascension Church hall. All welcome (see separate article). Contact Elizabeth Bright on 428705
NEW - Hopes & Dreams A new weekly group for parents and those with pre-school children offering an opportunity for support and encouragement (and lunch) in a Christian environment - 12 Noon in the Crypt on Wednesdays (see separate article), followed by Little Fishes Toddler Group at 1 pm in the Hall [See Article]
New Spring Alpha Course – a new weekly course starts Friday 8th February at 7pm in the Upper Room. To join in please speak to Chris Brann (01225 340826) or Robert the Vicar (01225 405354).
NEW – Relax with the Choir on 1st Fridays - Feb 1st & March 15th 8 pm. The choir would love to welcome you for tea, coffee etc at the end of practice in church every 1st Friday (NB 15th Mar, not 1st). You may wish to come a little early to enjoy hearing what they do too!
Little Fishes Drop-In Toddler Group – weekly in term time on Wednesdays from 1 to 2.30pm in the Hall. No session on Wednesday 13th February.
Ascension Knitting Group – Meets 10am – 12 Noon in Church Upper Room: for February dates are – Wednesday 6th and Monday 18th; for March – Wednesday 6th and Monday 18th (monthly – 1st Wednesdays and 3rd Mondays)
Cell Group Leaders – Monday February 4th 7.30pm at Robert & Margaret’s house. Your group leaders meet to encourage and share with each other
Culverhay Nursing Home – 3.45pm Wednesdays – 13th February and 27th March (for Easter Communion): Worship with residents, staff and families (monthly – usually on 2nd Wednesday)
Pastoral Visitors – Monday 18th February 6.45pm. Our team meets to share needs and pray for those who might need particular support.
Parochial Church Council – next meeting on Thursday 14th March at 7.30pm
Special Events for February & March
7 am Early Monday Prayer times (see lead article by our Vicar) – every Monday morning in February and March. Everyone is welcome in our Prayer Room as we pray for the work of the Holy Spirit in our Church and among our young people
12th Feb 7.30pm City-wide prayer time in the Abbey for our city and surrounding area. Leaders from the council, police force and hospital will be there. Being Shrove Tuesday there will be pancake refreshments! Many have come to these times in recent years as we join together in prayer as one Church

Special Events for May & June
Lunch time Concert Bath Abbey Saturday 18th May 1.30 – 2.30pm. The children from St. Andrew’s school choir will be singing. Their head teacher, Sue East has copied us in to correspondence concerning a wonderful opportunity for the children at her school. (Her letter is on the Porch Notice Board) and asking for any support that we feel able to give.
SPLENDOUR 2013.
Splendour is the annual Women’s Conference (sorry guys) hosted by Trinity Cheltenham on Saturday June 15th from 10am – 5pm at Cheltenham Race Course.
A group from Ascension have now booked, but if anyone still wants to go we will try and get you a ticket. The cost is £22.50, or £17.50 for senior citizens and students. You will need to bring a packed lunch, coffee will be served free of charge throughout the day but you will need to pay for a cup on arrival. Parking is free, we are sharing cars so obviously you will need to contribute towards petrol costs if you are having a lift from someone.

Gospel Sing Song will be performing their full repertoire of hand-clapping and uplifting songs at the Roper Theatre, Hayesfield Upper School on Saturday 1st June 7.30pm. St. Michael’s Spire and Tower. An exhibition during Bath Festival week from the 28th May with sponsored visits to the Bell ringing chamber and displays; including some of the Parish Records which are said to be some of the oldest in England.
